What a great weekend we had on November 13th – 16th. We held our very first Coasties Film Festival which was a great success with an overwhelming response of entries and very generous support from our sponsors and patrons. All the judges agreed that we have great talent on the Central Coast.
We were graced with the presence of two legends of the film industry; Margeret Pomeranz from ABC’s “At The Movies” and the Oscar nominated Don McAlpine. Margeret was very generous with her time and helped us out with radio ads and promoting the festival to the Central Coast. Don McAlpine also donated a big chunk of his time promoting on NBN news and a special screening of Breaker Morant with Q & A afterwards.
Congratulations to all those who won awards. We hope that this will encourage you to continue on in the path of film-making. And to those of you who did not receive prizes, we have already started planning for next year. So get your cameras rolling and your movies ready by August 2010. Coasties 2010 is already underway and we are looking for ideas on how to make next year bigger and better. If you have any suggestions please drop into the theatre or post us a letter about what you think. There will be a few changes to Coasties for next year to make it better and it will be the same theme. Changes will mainly be to clarify categories that the entries fall in to. Entries for Coasties Film Festival 2010 will commence in January and close on the 31st August 2010.
We look forward to seeing you again.
